Homeopathy Tips for 11/29/11 Remedy Relationships

In the treatment of chronic disease it is useful to know about remedy relationships. Hahnemann, Kent, and other great masters have written much about the relationships of remedies. Some remedies are very useful and complementary to the previously given remedy and being compatible will often complete what the first remedy has failed to cure.

Here is a partial list of some of the main polycrest remedies and their complimentary remedies;

  • Aloe and Sulphur are complementary to each other
  • Apis and Natrum Muriaticum are complementary to each other.
  • Arsenicum and Phophorus are                  ”                       ”                 “
  • Belladonna and Calcarea Carbonica        ”                        ”                “
  • Carbo Vegetablis and Kali Carbonicum  ”                        ”                “

These remedies are complementary  and the latter follows the former well;

  • To Bryonia : Alumina and Rhus Tox are complementary
  • To Chamomilla: Belladonna is complementary
  • To Colocynthis: Mercurius                        “
  • To Drosera: Nux Vomica                            “
  • To Dulcamara: Baryta Carbonica            “
  • To Graphitis: Causticum, Hepar Sulph and Lycopodium are complementary
  • To Ipecacuanha: Cuprum Metallicum is complementary
  • To Kali Carbonica: Carbo Vegetablis                       “
  • To Natrum Muriaticum: Apis                                    “
  • To Nitric Acid: Arsenicum                                           “
  • To Nux Vomica: Sulphur                                              “
  • To Phorphorus: Arsenicum                                         “
  • To Pulsatilla: Lycopodium, Silica and Sulphuric Acid are Complementary
  • To Sepia: Natrum Muriaticum is complementary
  • To Sulphur: Aloe                                          “
  • To Thuja: Silica                                             “

Still other remedies are inimical and do not follow well the previous remedies. Sometimes they can spoil a wonderful case by being incompatible. Here is a partial list.

  • For Allium Cepa: Aloe and Squilla do not follow well
  • For Ammonium Carbonicum: Lachesis does not follow well
  • For Apis: Rhus Toxicodendron                                 “
  • For Baryta Carbonica: Calcarea Carbonica          “
  • For Calcarea Carbonica: Bryonia, Nitric Acid and Sulphur    “
  • For Causticum: Coffea and Phosphorus
  • For Coffea: Cantharis, Causticum, Cocculus, and Ignatia
  • For Digitalis: China
  • For Dulcamara: Belladonna and Lachesis
  • For Ignatia: Nux Vomica
  • For Kreosotum: Carbo Vegetablis
  • For Lachesis: Acetic Acid
  • For Ledum: China
  • For Mercurius: Silica
  • For Nitric Acid: Lachesis
  • For Nux Vomica: Ignatia and Zinc
  • For Phosphorus: Causticum
  • For Rhus Toxicodendron : Apis
  • For Selenium: China
  • For Sepia: Lachesis
  • For Silica: Mercurius

Some remedies antidote other remedies. If a wrong medicine has been given and new symptoms appear it is sometimes necessary to give another medicine to counteract or antidote the previous remedy. It is always a good idea to retake the case and if there is a remedy that fits, it will often help remove those symptoms. But keep in mind Nux Vomica, Coffea and Camphora as they will often be of service if there is not a better choice to antidote the action of the previous remedy.

When studying a second remedy that you are considering always read about the remedy relationships in Materia Medica. They can sometime be very useful in helping decide which remedy may be the best choice. These relationships have been passed down from master homeopaths who have contibuted much of this information from their personal experience. Why not use this informationto help your cases be that much more successful.

An informative article, however I am sure that most of the homeopaths take into consideration the relationship of medicine at the time of prescribing the medicine.

    Dear Sir,
It is true because every Homeo remedy is replaced with its comlimentary one according to its dynamic functions. Some time it seemed that comlimentary remedy will play vital role but due to modalities affect of the patient it fail to bring noticeble effects. I suggest that while considerring the complimentary remedy update the patient for further prescription.

Does this only mean immediately following? If there is a remedy in between is it Ok then? Or should they not be given it at all.

    • Robert Field on

      Hi Tammy,
If there is a response from a different remedy then it is ok to give an inimical remedy then. If the last remedy to act was still the original remedy it is best not to give an inimical ramedy.

Shall the antidoting remedy be of the same potency as of the remedy required to be antidoted? Please advise.

    • Robert Field on

To andidote it is best to give the same potency or one attenuation higher than the offending remedy potency. It will be more likely to act then.

    Q. HOW TO ANTIDOTE TUBERCULINUM CM WHICH CAUSED ALOPECIA AREATA IN TWO FEMALES – PUL. TYPE?
    Q. CAN MOTHER TINCTURES OF SAME REMEDY ANTIDOTE? WHY NOT LOWER POTENCIES ANTIDOTE HIGHER ONES?

    • H.Dr Muhammad Ayub Khan on

      Dear,
With respect to E Indrakumar comments and he as needed answer for Mother Tinctures action for its potency revealed for a patient. Yes but make sure the in case of TUBERCULINUM CMT or other nosodes do not practice for advising as ANTIDOTE because Nosodes are worst to increase the rate of thier Viruses or Germs. You know in Elopathy Vaccines are advised to cure the case of weak carrier. In Homeo if you only rely on the discription and symtoms of any remedy to a case which has comlicated history you will get a bad response, there fore early symtoms of the patients play vital role in advising the samilia remedy to cure betterly.
